Karate Chops Diabetes Mission

To assist JDRF accelerate the development of solutions for the management, care and eventual cure for Type 1 diabetes with a $250,000 fundraising commitment while inspiring all those living with any form of diabetes to live full, active lives anchored on sound diabetes management and healthy lifestyle choices. Expanding awareness of the importance of funding research and of the challenges people living with diabetes in our community are facing, is also fundamental to our mission. Increasing awareness empowers the community at large to work collectively in the battle against diabetes.

JDRF and the CCTN

On June 20th, JDRF Canada officially launched the JDRF Canadian Clinical Trial Network (JDRF CCTN) at the Hospital for Sick Children. The JDRF CCTN is a groundbreaking effort to accelerate the solutions for the management, care, and cure of diabetes. Created in partnership with the Government of Canada from a $20M commitment from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, with an additional $13.9 million contribution from JDRF, the $33.9 million investment will help accelerate the testing of new technologies and leading-edge treatments for Canadians and individuals around the world affected by diabetes and its complications.

JDRFs research goals are to cure, treat, and prevent type 1 diabetes. Since its founding in 1970 by parents of children with type 1 diabetes, JDRF has funded more than $1.5 billion (US) in diabetes research. While JDRF works toward a cure, they strive to help all people living with diabetes to live better, longer, and healthier lives. They are the reason JDRF exists and remain at the forefront of everything JDRF does.
